Zelma R. Cercy

Zelma R. Cercy, 87, went home to be with her Lord on Friday February 15, 2024. She was a loving mother who was devoted to her children and her beloved husband. She had great curiosity in many subjects, especially politics. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook and devoutly religious. Born in Winter Haven, FL, she spent her early years in Avon Park FL, where she graduated from Avon Park High School. Afterwards, she went on to attend college in Indiana.

Zelma, along with being a loving wife and mother, was also a licensed cosmetologist. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Hunter, her mother Eva Simmons Bryant, and stepfather Jesse Bryant, as well as her two sons, Gregory M. Cercy and James E. Cercy, brothers Alvin and Ray Hunter and her sister Dorothy Shivers.

She is survived by her Beloved husband of 67 years, James A. Cercy and her son, Joseph Cercy. Zelma touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

A private family visitation will be held on February 21, 2024, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, FL.
