Zella M. Rone, 78, of Sebring, FL, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024. Born on September 26, 1946, in Anamosa, IA, to the late Ralph and Grace Ralston, Zella lived a life marked by strength, independence, and a deep devotion to her family and community.
Zella’s journey through life was one of resilience and dedication. A proud Midwesterner, she worked as a hog farmer and later served at a correctional facility in Iowa, embodying a strong work ethic and steadfast determination. She moved to Florida in 2011 from Illinois, embracing a new chapter with her characteristic adaptability and love of adventure.
Zella found joy on the golf course, where she honed her skills and built cherished friendships. Her family remembers her as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who approached life with compassion, unwavering support, and an empathetic heart.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Krabill (Curt) of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Matthew J. Scanlon (Kelly) of Central City, IA; her siblings, Jeff Ralston, Richard Ralston, Ruth Ann Ralston, and Sandra Ralston; her two beloved grandchildren, Dylan Scanlon (Alyssa) and Tyler Scanlon; and her two precious great-grandchildren, Jack Scanlon and Ellis Scanlon.
Zella was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Leslie Ray Rone, with whom she shared a life filled with partnership and devotion.
Zella’s legacy is one of hard work, love, and determination. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
