Winifred C. Demorest Whitehurst

Winifred "Winnie" Demorest Whitehurst, age 87, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She was born on June 13, 1926 in Castile, New York to Albert A. and Florence Edith (Sherman) Demorest. Winnie grew up in Avon Park, FL, graduated from Avon Park High School as Valedictorian, and received her Bachelor's Degree from Stetson University. She served as a Pastoral Secretary in Avon Park and for 20+ years in Valdosta, GA, where she and Tad raised their four children. Retiring in 1988, Winnie and Tad returned back to Avon Park, where she has been a devoted member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church. She is survived by her Children - John Whitehurst (Pat) of Avon, NY; Carol Greene (Mark) of Brunswick, GA; Barbara Sessions (Roger) of Tallahassee, FL; David Whitehurst (Natalie) of Newnan, GA; Brother-in-law - Charlie Whitehurst (Babs) of Avon Park, FL; and 10 Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband - Murray "Tad" Whitehurst, Jr. and a Granddaughter - Rebecca Greene. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with Rev. George Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Bougainvillea Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM prior the funeral service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.
