Wilma " Billie" Moose of Sebring Florida entered her heavenly home on November 23,2018 at age 94. She was born in 1924 in Calloway County, KY to parents Hollis Lawrence and Fern Pierce. She was the youngest and last surviving child in her family, predeceased by her sisters Marge, Mary, Helen and brother Fred. The Lawrence family moved from Kirksey, KY to Dearborn Michigan in the 1930’s. After high school Billie worked in her parent’s sandwich shop, and met Hubert. L. Moose. During WWII she was a civilian worker for the Air Force and married sweetheart Hubert on June 29, 1946 after he returned from the army. They then moved to Hollywood Florida where many of her family had relocated. Billie was a devoted wife and mother, survived by 4 children Ed Moose(Judy),of Clermont FL, Ron Moose(Karla)of Plantation FL, Kim Scala( Steve )of Waukeegan, IL, Lisa Herriman(Greg)of Frostproof FL. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Duane Moose with-Caleb ,Shari Rozanc(JP) with Alyssa and Emily; Karen Cochrane(Matt) with James, Rebekah, Anna, Gideon; Ryan Moose(Megan)with William, Andrew, Mason, and grandchildren Chad James ,Rebecca, Megan and John Ilavsky, Jeffrey and Christopher Shanley.
She moved with sons Ed and Ron to Indiana in 1949 while Hubert went to Chiropractic college. After his graduation they moved back to Hollywood where he began his Chiropractic practice.
She was a charter member of Sheridan Hills Baptist church in Hollywood FL where she and Hubert (“Doc”) were active members. She lovingly volunteered many years in the church nursery, sang in the church choir and expressed her love for her Lord Jesus Christ through her service to her family and friends. She and Hubert enjoyed traveling in their RV before his retirement and moving to Ocala, FL in 1994. Widowed in 1997, she remained in Ocala before returning to Hollywood in 2006 and became a member of New Life Baptist Church. She moved to Sebring FL in 2015 as her health declined to be near daughter Lisa where she remained until her death.
She “fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith”.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial service at New Life Baptist church on Saturday December 1, 2018 at 11am.
