William “Billy” Harris Sebring, grandson of City of Sebring founder, George E. Sebring, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017. He was born September 16, 1930 at Weems Hospital in downtown Sebring to Payne and Ruth Amy Sebring. After graduating from Sebring High School in 1948, Billy went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Returning to Sebring from college, he met and married his wife, Anne Palmer in 1954. Over the next 63 ½ years, Billy and Anne have 8 children together and raise them all in Sebring. He was a lifelong resident of Sebring, member of the Sebring City Council, lifetime member of the Sebring Firemen, Inc., one of the founders of Max Long Baseball field, Sebring Historical Society, and many other organizations around the community. Billy loved spending time with his family and spending time in the outdoors fishing and hunting. He always spoke his mind and always let you know how he felt. Life lessons were of the utmost importance to him and you could ask him anything and he would give you his honest opinion. He enjoyed telling and sharing stories with everyone. Billy was extremely proud of his family and enjoyed spending each and every holiday together. Billy is survived by his wife - Anne Sebring; children – Danni Sue Sebring; Cindy Sebring Adams; Chris Sebring (Kristine); Paul Sebring; Susie Tucker (Fred); Beverly Singley (Arthur); Randy Sebring (Julie); William Sebring, Jr. (Marcella); Sister – Jacquelyn Trevelyan; Grandchildren – Jonathan Brodie; Victoria Brodie; Jessica Pleger (Jonathan); Jake Adams; Lindsey Sebring; Sara Sebring; Dewey Sebring; Raney Sebring; Roudy Sebring; Hally Sebring; Kelsey Tucker; Hannah Tucker; Jarrett Singley; Zachary Singley; Dalton Sebring; Jack Sebring; George Sebring; Great Grandchildren – Kaden Sebring; Finley Grace Pleger; and Cousin – Hart Sebring (Martha). He was preceded in death by his Sister – Verdelle Medlin. Family will receive friends at a visitation on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:30 – 8:00 PM at the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Juliano officiating. He will be laid to rest in Pinecrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sebring Historical Society or the First United Methodist Church of Sebring, c/o Scholarship Fund.
