William Floyd Goddard passed away peacefully Monday, April 2, 2018 at Highlands Regional Hospital in Sebring, Florida. Born on April 9, 1926 to James Clarence and Jennie Belle (Starkey) Goddard in Jacksonburg, West Virginia. Bill spent most of his life living in Grafton, Ohio where he served on the Village council for eight years before moving to Sebring, Florida in 1982. There he enjoyed a full and rewarding life in retirement with his wife Wilma. Bill served as a Master Sargent in the United States Army during the Occupation after World War II as a member of the 6th Armored Division.
Bill is survived by daughters Debra (Steve) Cihla, Anita Goddard, Cathy (Don) Dusky and son-in-law Gary Mason. He is Grandpa to Allison (Mark) Poling, Lauren (Bob) Taylor, Jessica (Jeremy) Schillig, Kyle (Brittany) Dusky, Jared (Emily) Dusky, Rachel (Steve) Silva and Philip Mason. He is Great-papa to William Poling, Laine and Henry Taylor, Austin and Elliana Schillig, and Cruz Silva.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 48 years Wilma (Fisher) Goddard, daughter Vicki Mason, brothers James (Boyd), John and Kenneth Goddard. Sisters Alice Goddard, Ruby Johnston, Jessie Cain, Evelyn (Evie) Byard, Mary Huggins.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1:00-3:00p.m. at the Sebring Hills Club House, 200 Lark Avenue, Sebring.
Donations can be made to the charity of choice or Veterans of Foreign War in your local community.
Interment will be out of state.
Bill was known for his faith in God, love of family and friends, friendliness, kindness, willingness to help and never knowing a stranger.
