William Clair Roseberry, 84, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away in Florida, April 2, 2026 following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his father William Stanley Roseberry and his mother Opal (Staats) Roseberry. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his sister, Edith Ann (Roseberry) Bowman.
Survivors include his wife of 59 plus years Linda Ann (Roush) Roseberry; fur baby, Margarita; niece, Teresa Dawn (Bowman) Anderson and Robert; nephew Timothy Jennings Bowman both of P.A.; brother in law Jennings Bowman of M.D. and a host of relatives he inherited when he married into the Roush Family.
A man who wore many hats over his life. He loved his Lord, his country and his wife. Clair was a founder Jaycee where he held all the offices in the Ravenswood Jaycees. He went all the way to Ambassador of the West Virginia Jaycess where he was honored. He was a former member of the Ravenswood Lions Club and enjoyed traveling and numerous projects with pals, Lonnie Kelly and Russell Straight.
He was elected Mayor of Ravenswood for six terms and a member of the Hopewell Cemetery Board of Directors in Mt. Alto, WV. He served as a trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher at the Millwood United Methodist Church. He loved his church family more than anything. He was a member of the Knoll's Bible Class in Florida where he lived. Clair was also on the Board of Directors for his Knoll Communtiy until this years.
He was a graduate of Ripley High School. Clair was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He is a lifetime member of the the Ravenswood and Ripley V.F.W and participated in the Jackson County Honor Guard. He was retired from E.I. Dupont Washington Works Plant with 33 years of service.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. ~ Friday, April 10, 2026 at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Kevin Gillespie officiating. Entombment will be in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV, with military honors provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard.Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations made to the Hopewell Cemetery Fund, C/O Casto Funeral Home 802 Washington St Ravenswood, WV 26164.
