William "Roger" Carter

July 12, 1936 — February 24, 2016

William "Roger" Carter, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on July 12, 1936 in Scott, Georgia. Roger was a 1955 graduate of Sebring High School where he “lettered” in baseball. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and motorcycle rider. Roger spent the majority of his career at Westinghouse as a certified electrical motor repair and maintenance technician. Upon retiring he became a citrus grove owner in Highlands County. After selling his groves he enjoyed spending time with his family and working with his daughters in an irrigation business and playing with his beagles. Roger was a member of the Sebring Firemen Association and First Baptist Church of Sebring.   Survivors include his wife: Dorothy E. Carter, daughters: Cheryl Anne Carter and Anita Wallace, all of Sebring, brother-in-law, Tommy Gould-Lake Placid, FL, one aunt, two uncles and numerous cousins.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Vennie (Jack) Carter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home of Sebring.  Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL 32718 ( www.cshospice.org )
