Lake Placid

Wendell “Doc” Anderson, age 85, passed into eternity on January 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faithful service, quiet strength, and deep devotion to both God and family. Born on September 9, 1940, in Ashley, Indiana, the youngest of three, Doc married the love of his life, Rosalynn “Ro” (Schaeffer) Anderson, on June 15, 1963. He graduated from Purdue University Veterinary School in 1966, beginning a career of service that would take him across the world. His work with the United States Department of Agriculture and the British Crown led him to the Australian outback for three and a half years before he and Ro settled in Sebring, Florida, in 1978. After completing his work with the USDA, Doc opened Anderson Animal Clinic in the fall of 1983, where he served the community for 35 years, caring for thousands of animals and the families who loved them. He also worked with Wrede’s Wildlife, helping rehabilitate Florida’s often exotic and injured wildlife. Doc’s faith was steady and sincere. Along with Ro and their 3 young children, he began a small Bible study on their back porch, which would eventually grow into what is now known as Neighborhood Church in Sebring. He was also a devoted member of the Gideons, quietly sharing the hope he had found in Jesus and living out his faith through consistent service. Doc was known as a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was often with dry wit and gentle sarcasm that made people smile. He loved to travel and was often happiest flying or sailing, finding joy in open skies and wide horizons.Doc is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalynn “Ro” Anderson; his children, David Anderson, Deborah Hendry (Anderson), and Dalene Stuteville (Anderson); his grandchildren, Joel, Jill, Julia, Jesse, Daniel, Holly, Michelle, Cayla, Grace, Jackson, and Nicole; and seven great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with his parents and sisters and is fully at home with the Lord he loved and served. While his family grieves his absence, they do so with hope, holding fast to the promise that we do not grieve as those who have no hope, but with confidence in eternal life through Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Neighborhood Church, where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a man deeply loved.
