Wayne “Sonny” Whitmire, Sr., 83 of Avon Park, FL. passed away Wednesday November 14, 2018 in Winter Haven Fl. Born to Cecil and Iva (Sanders) Whitmire in Brevard N.C., Wayne moved to Avon Park, FL. in 1958, becoming the founder of Whitmire Air Conditioning. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force, who’s joy in life was his loving family, fishing, gardening and his many friends. Wayne leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Dee Whitmire of Avon Park, FL. Daughter-Kathy Norfleet of Purlear, N.C-Sons Spencer (Stephanie) Whitmire, Avon Park, FL.-Steve Whitmire, Avon Park, FL.-Brothers-Jerry (Betty) Whitmire, Brevard, N.C.-Joe (Karole)Whitmire, Brevard, N.C. - Sister Betty (Bob) Delwiche of Hendersonville, N.C. and 3 Grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by both Parents and a Sister Lois Veshears. Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 20 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, FL. with a graveside service to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Bougainvillea Cemetery, Avon Park, FL.
