Wayne H Manley

Born on March 10, 1948, the youngest of four boys to Dr. Clifford and Alice Manley in the town of Frostproof, FL., Wayne H. Manley grew into a leader in his community and began a life of service to others. Before graduating from Frostproof High School, he served in the FFA, as a judge for the Polk County Youth Fair, and numerous service clubs. Wayne entered the United States Air Force and served as a mechanic for jet engines completing tours in Vietnam and the Philippines and was raised to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the military he served his community as Volunteer Fire Fighter and volunteered at the First Baptist Church. His service was not limited to his country or community. His most cherished service was to his family. Marrying his one true love Dolores Thornton, they had two children. Wayne provided for his family through 25 years with Polk County Board of County Commissioners retiring as a Field Inspector. Wayne is survived by his wife Dolores, their two children Tracy Spell (Lee), Kevin Manley (Dyan), six Grandchildren - Megan Arthur (Dalton), Jacob Arthur (Natasha), Joshua Arthur (Daisy), Mackenzie Manley, Garrett Manley, and Lauren Chaney. He was also blessed with four great grandchildren - Wynn Allen, Wade Allen, Remington Arthur, Finley Arthur. Wayne was known as the "favorite uncle" a best friend, a loving husband who was present for his wife, and he was known as a man who was about others. His life was a testimony of service the way the Bible teaches. If a phrase could be written to sum up the life of Wayne Manley it would be "Others before self." A memorial Service is planned for Wednesday October 2, at 11 :00 am. The memorial will be held at the Frostproof Church of God - 104 State Hwy 630 West Frostproof, FL. Wayne will be interred at a later date by the immediate family at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
