Walta Lee Cherry, age 93 passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 in Lakeland, Florida. Ms. Cherry was born in Fort Meade, Florida on May 20, 1919 to Walter and Oveda (Drawdy) Winegard. Ms. Cherry was a homemaker; she enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking pictures. She was kind hearted and always enjoyed taking care of others, she was a former member of the Women's Business Club, and she was a member of Florida Avenue Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of Avon Park, Florida. She is survived by her daughter-in-law-Emmie Renfro of Lakeland, Florida; sister-Lola Sapp of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren-Eric Renfro, Lance Renfro (Tina) and Amy Long (Tim); great grandchildren-Maddie and Holden Long and Wyatt Renfro and many nieces and nephews. Ms. Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, former husband-James Cherry and son-Mickey Renfro, granddaughter-Dana Renfro and great grandson-Timothy Long and a sister-Reba Turner. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Girdley officiating.
