Victor Derl Kirk

Victor Derl "Coach" Kirk, of Lake Wales, FL. age 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born in Logan County, WV on December 20, 1930 to Lindsey A. and Connie (Frazier) Kirk. He was an Educator and a Coach. In 2011 he was included in the initial class of the Immokalee High School Athletic Hall of Fame and inducted into the Lake Placid High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He served in the US Army (Combat Engineers) in Korea; Member of American Legion Post 0025, Elks, VFW Post 4300, Eagles (Where he received the "Man of the Year Award" twice), and was a Tennessee Squire. He was a former member of the Moose. He was a resident since 1958. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo (Danish) Kirk, Lake Wales, FL; daughters, Darylena Keene (Charles), Lake Wales, FL and Glenna Roberts (Christopher), Naples, FL; Grandchildren, Dionne Spooner (Steve), Justin Strickland (Holly) and Christa Roberts; great grandchildren, Stepheney Spooner and Daryl Spooner; brothers, James Kirk (Dalia), Odessa, FL and Lindsey Kirk (Sue), Hixon, TN. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Dana Kirk, sisters Anna Rose Hall and Dorene Leonard. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 with Military Honors, at 3:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with visitation 1 hour before service time, beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in his memory to the Lake Placid Athletic Department or to the Immokalee Athletic department.
