Vern Eugene Sisson

Vern Eugene Sisson passed away on August 1, 2017 under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born in Guckeen Township, Minnesota in 1940 into a large farm family.  He attended Gustavus Adolphus College then pursued Graduate Studies at the University of Minnesota before entering a career in Beekeeping.  He edited the American Bee Journal for 10 years and extensive travel related to his field took him and the family to Illinois, Australia, Utah and finally Florida.  He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years and childhood sweetheart Sharon, one son Patrick (Liz), one daughter Shelley (Dana), four Grandchildren (Terrell, Brooke, Rachel and Ashley) and two Great Grandchildren (River and Rain), one sister and two brothers.  He was preceded in death by his mother (Margaret) and father (Vic), one brother, one sister and twin infant Grandsons.  Private family services are planned, but donations can be made in his memory to Change of Pace Adult Daycare 4514 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL  33872, or the Humane Society of Highlands County 7321 Haywood Taylor Blvd., Sebring, FL  33876.
