Velma Jean Kendrick Trevelyan, 86, passed away on August 10, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones.
Born, August 30, 1931 to Hugh and Rita Kendrick in Sebring, Florida. Velma was a lifetime resident of Highlands County. She graduated from Sebring High School June of 1950 where she was a member of the Sebring High School Band and Thespians. She was crowned the first Miss Highlands County in 1953, which allowed her to be a Cypress Garden’s Belle at Cypress Gardens.
Velma worked as a secretary in the citrus industry for many years having worked for Withers and Harshman Sebring Packing Company and later Kahn Groves.
She enjoyed music and singing, gardening, watching nature and travelling to see the fall leaves change.
Velma is survived by her husband of 57 years, Allan W. Trevelyan, son; Larry A. Trevelyan, daughters; Linda (Kenneth) Allen, Kim (Ray) Boswell and Zoe (Roger) Butler. Grandchildren: Shane (Tabitha) Trevelyan, Ryan (Ashley) Butler, Alexandra Allen, Austin Allen and Jamie Lee Butler. Great grandchildren: Logan, Silas and Dexter Trevelyan.
A Memorial Service will be held on September 8, 2018, at 2:00pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring.
