Velma Ann Barnard (Winslow)

Velma Ann Barnard (Winslow), 93, of Sebring, FL passed away at home surrounded by her children on September 17th, 2026.

Born in Pontiac Michigan on May 14, 1933 she was the daughter of Mary (Grannie) Winslow. She attended Waterford Township High School and went on to work at the Water Department for the City of Waterford and eventually became a Real Estate agent while raising her 4 children. She retired in 1999 and moved to Sebring, Florida.

To those who knew her, Velma was known for being the heart of every gathering. She was incredibly social and possessed a gift for bringing people together, naturally stepping into the role of coordinator for social events and celebrations or just a casual game of golf. Her loyalty to her loved ones was unmatched; she famously stayed close with her high school friend group all the way through their retirement years and beyond. Above all, she was fiercely principled and fiercely protective of her people. If you were in her life, you had a champion who would stand by you through absolutely anything.

She rests now in comfort and peace, alongside her daughter, Karen O'Neill, and her mother, Mary Winslow.

Her legacy lives on through the family who loved her. She is survived by her children, Teresa Barnard, Matt Barnard(Tricia Barnard), and Dana Mariotti; her grandchildren Jennifer Purrenhage, Tara O’Neill, Karina Mariotti, Allison Mariotti, Griffin Barnard and Cooper Barnard; and her great grand children Marissa Purrenhage, Leigh Purrenhage and Andrew Purrenhage; and her siblings Nancy King, Leroy Winslow and Elaine Ferguson.

No formal services will be held. Instead, to honor her memory, her family asks that you reach out to someone you haven't caught up with in a while, meet up for lunch with your friends, or do an unexpected act of kindness for someone you love .
