Treva Jean Payne

Treva Jean Henderson Payne, age 90, of Sebring, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her home. She was born on August 11, 1923 in Lake Placid, Florida to Leon Lucius and Sallie Octavia (Hendry) Henderson. She was Homemaker and a Farmer, member of First Baptist Church of Sebring for over 40 years being one of eleven persons who began the mission constituted as Whispering Pines Baptist Church, served as the Women's Mission Union Director at First Baptist Church and Whispering Pines Baptist Church, charter member of the Highlands County Genealogical Society, member of Florida State Genealogical Society, member of Florida Native Plant Society - Sun Ridge Charter, and has been a lifelong resident of Highlands County. She is survived by her Son - Charles Floyd Payne of The Villages, FL; Brother - Roy Alderman Henderson of Lake Placid, FL; Ward Hendry Henderson of Temple Terrace, FL; Grandchildren - Robert William Payne; Patrick Daniel Payne; Great Grandchildren -Christopher Arron Payne, Alicia Elaine Harris, Ashley Christine Payne, and Elisabella Antoinette Ortiz-Payne; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husband - William McKinley; Sons - Dennis Ray Payne and Michael Melvin Payne. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Whispering Pines Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Trinkle officiating. A private interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home.
