Tretha Spires

Tretha Spires, of Sebring, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2012, celebrating her 90th birthday in Heaven. She was born to Sebe and Bertha (Padgett) Rhymes in Okeechobee, Florida on April 16, 1922. She had been a resident of Sebring since 1927, coming from Okeechobee and had been employed as a cashier in retail. She was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed her church, her friends and her family. She especially enjoyed helping others. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Spires; her sons, John E. Spires and Buddy Spires and her daughter, Myrtice Wilkes. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Collins of Sebring; 12 grandchildren, H.J. Sanders; Dale Strickland; Dwayne Strickland; Belinda Wilburn; Cindy Chaput; Andy Spires; Pat Davis; Peggy Sue Nipper; Betty Marie Smith; Donnie Lee Tucker; Carmen Moore and Lee Wilkes; 28 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Sebring. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery, Sebring, will be immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL, in her memory.
