Tony Ray Todd
On April 17, 2016, Tony Ray Todd, 67, lost his courageous battle with cancer.
Surrounded by his family and friends, he passed peacefully at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring. Tony was born in Pelham, Georgia on October 13, 1948 to Loyd A. and Addie Mae (Holland) Todd. He had been a resident of Avon Park since 1949 and was a graduate of Avon Park High School. Tony served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam from 1968 through 1970. He was a 1976 graduate of South Florida Jr. College, earning an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice. After 33 years of dedicated service, Tony retired from the United States Postal Service as Station Manager. He coached youth baseball and football in Highlands and Polk counties for 34 years.
Tony loved to fish, hunt and camp with family, and especially enjoyed times spent with his grandsons. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Tony was of the Baptist faith. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Sam Todd, and his beloved son, Travis Todd. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Day Todd, his daughter, Taryn Todd See, and two grandsons, Bryson Albritton and Brady See. He is also survived by two brothers, Fielding (Juanita) Todd of Avon Park and Leamon (Ruth) Todd of Citrus Springs, FL; three sisters, Brunelle (George) Murphy, Marzene Bolton and Faye Newsome, all of Avon Park. Tony is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 A.M. with the service at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for “Team Gigi”; mailed to P. O. Box 1635, Avon Park, FL 33826.
