Timothy F. Cox, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Avon Park, Florida. He was born on September 15, 1941 in Jamestown, New York where he was a lifelong resident. Once he retired he spent his winters in Avon Park, FL and summers in Jamestown, NY. Tim was a Jamestown High School graduate, class of 1959. Tim served as a crew chief with the U.S. Airforce from 1959 –1965. His employment consisted of Sprinchorn and Co. -Jamestown; Cresent Tool -Jamestown, Bordens -Randolph, NY. Tim was also a self-employed back hoe operator. Tim retired in 1995 from SKF Bearings as a supervisor-Jamestown, NY. Tim was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jamestown and Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church in Avon Park. Other memberships included Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Basketball Referee Association (He was a high school basketball referee in Western New York for many years in the 1970’s). His hobbies were reading, woodworking, listening to 50’s music and he was an avid golfer. Tim was a very warm and generous man. Tim liked everyone and everyone liked Tim. He was happy to give a helping hand to anyone in need and expected nothing in return. He loved his family and was always loyal and dependable. He was solid and rock steady in support of his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Iva E. and Frederick Cox, and brother, David L. Cox. Survivors include his wife of 29 years Beverly Jean (Brevoort) Cox, children, Jeffrey D. Cox-Bradenton, FL; Cynthia A. Cox Tolman (Monty)-Olympia, WA, grandson, Myles A. Anderson-Jamestown, NY, step-children, Monty D. Tolman -Olympia, WA; Rex A. Tolman (Susan)-Jamestown, NY; Kim Tolman Briggs (Randy) of Akron, OH, step-grandchildren, Micah P. Tolman-Beijing, China; Benjamin J. Tolman-Seattle, WA; Joseph G. Tolman - Scottsdale, AZ; Kasie L. Briggs Pizarro-Hudson, OH, step-great-grandchildren, Alaina Pizarro. There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, 2600 N. Highlands Blvd., Avon Park, FL. There will be a second memorial service at a later date this year in Jamestown, NY.
