THOMAS ELTON TAYLOR Thomas Elton Taylor, 83, of Lake Placid, FL, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Lake Placid Health Care. He was born October 3, 1927, to Thomas T. and Alberta L. (Townsend) Taylor in Tampa, Florida, and had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1998, coming from Tampa. He worked as a salesman for the Nabisco Co., where he was affectionately known as The Cookie Man, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. A proud graduate of Florida State University, he was a lifelong Seminole fan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sebring and a very active former member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bill Dixon of Sebring and five grandchildren; Jennifer, Jason, Taylor, Haley and Madison. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle T. Ehrich in November, 2009. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Brandon, with W. Mike Adams officiating. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, following the service. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the National Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
