Thomas Duane “Dude” Madson, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Sebring, Florida. He was born on June 7, 1931, in Emmons, Minnesota. Dude, a US Army veteran, served in Korea and was wounded in action. Dude’s career included owning small businesses and working as a realtor and real estate broker. Dude and his wife Henrietta “Hank” were winter residents in Florida for more than 20 years, spending summers in Rochester, Minnesota, and Lake City, Minnesota. Dude enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He also enjoyed flying and held a private pilot’s license for many years. Dude could fix almost anything and had a natural aptitude for anything mechanical. Most of all, Dude loved spending time with his wife of 61 years. Survivors include Henrietta "Hank" Madson, wife of Sebring, Florida; Dawn Bernatz (Mike), daughter of Wausau, Wisconsin; Kelly Madson (Kristi), son, of Rochester, Minnesota; Tammy Holtorf (Dave), daughter, of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; four brothers and their spouses; and seven grandchildren and their families. He was preceded in death by parents Clarence Madson and Eva Madson. An open house gathering to honor Dude will be held in the Tanglewood Activity Room from 3 – 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 9. Funeral services are pending and will be held in Rochester, Minnesota.
