Thomas J. “Tom” Ferguson, 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Mr. Ferguson was a compassionate man, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who lived a committed Christian life. He was born on January 13, 1930 in Wellsville, Ohio to William J. and Sylvia (McDevitt) Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his brother; Homer Ferguson and sister; Edith Holm. Mr. Ferguson retired from Columbia Gas System after thirty-one years of dedicated service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea with its 2 nd Division for sixteen months during the Korean War. Mr. Ferguson’s life centered around his family, his church, and his friends. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and was deeply involved on its boards and ministry teams. Mr. Ferguson’s family and friends will remember his faithfulness to his wife, children, grandchildren, his Lord and to them. They will also remember his great sense of humor and his commitment to making the world in which he lived a better place for all. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 61 years; Kathryn his devoted children: son, Mark and wife Deborah Ferguson of West Jefferson, Ohio, daughter, Nancy and husband Dr. Leon Hughes of Dublin, Ohio and precious grandchildren: Lindsay, Lexis and Langston Hughes of Dublin, Ohio, Trevor Ferguson of West Jefferson, Ohio and Ariel and husband Steven Moller of West Jefferson, Ohio, brother-in-law, John Holm of Nashville, Indiana and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. John (Audrey) Hardey of Bedford, Virginia and many beloved neighbors and friends across the country. Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm with the family receiving friends beginning at 1:00 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring with Rev. Kenneth Hull to officiate. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are requested in lieu of flowers and may be made to the Emmanuel United Church of Christ Building Fund.
