Thad Edward Tate, Sr., age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Sebring, FL. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Kentwood, LA to the late Ben and Estelle Cooper Tate. Thad had been a resident of Avon Park since 1954 having come from Osyka, MS. He was of the Baptist faith and worked for more than 30 years as a Foreman at Dressel Dairy. Thad was also known as a jack of all trades and was an independent business owner. He is survived by his children: Velma Tate Blaine (Ealie); Thad Edward Tate, Jr. (Cassandra); Mary Dasher (Sam); Eloise Shannon, Henrietta Lucas, Maxine Tate (Earl); Johnnie Tate; siblings: Maude Vessel; Gladys St. Ann (James); Velma Taylor; Wanda Taylor; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many foster children; nieces; nephews; other relatives, and an array of friends. That was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Kathy Fulse; siblings: Nettie Tate; Euna Mae Sandifer; Wilhemia Spiller; Arzenia Armstrong; Isaac Tate; Louis Tate; and Linnie Holden. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the New Progressive Church of God by Faith located at: 1111 Carolina Ave. Avon Park, FL. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the New Progressive Church of God by Faith in Avon Park with burial to follow at the Lakeside Historical Cemetery.
