Tate Junior Young

July 10, 1945 — September 10, 2025

Sebring

On Wednesday, September 10th, heaven welcomed the patriarch of our family, Tate Junior Young. Tate was a sardonic man with a generous heart and a deep love for animals, as well as a source of boundlessly captivating stories.

In his younger years, Tate served with Hampton's Foxhill Fire Department in Virginia, along with a stint in the Navy. He then spent the next forty years golfing and managing International House of Pancakes, in Hollywood Florida, where he was a mentor of countless people who became family.

Tate was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Ted and Jessie. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Trevoe and John (Judy). He will be especially missed by Melba, his wife of fifty years. Tate is survived by his three daughters—Steff, Bonnie (Jason), and Jessie (Art) and his three sons—Rob (Stefanie), Dewayne (Robin), and Zack (Elizabeth). He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his many grandchildren: Matt, Megan, Reese, Brooke, Rylee, Peter, Emily, Jayden, Cody, Kaleb, Amber, Tyler, Jamie, Stacey, Kirstie, Levi and Zack, as well as many great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward his enduring spirit of kindness, humor, and strength.

To honor Tate's wishes, no service will be held. In his memory, donations can be made to a veterans' organization or wildlife sanctuary of your choice.
