Sibyl Frances Padelford

Sibyl Bigbie Padelford, affectionately known as "Momma II," age 92, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. Mrs. Padelford was born in Edison, Georgia to Harris and Clara (Bell) Bigbie. She was Owner and Operator of the Poinsettia Hotel in Avon Park until 1972, and she also worked as a Ward Clerk for the Walker Memorial Hospital for 35 years. She was a lifelong resident of Avon Park and a lifelong Methodist, active in hospitality events at church, member of the Avon Park Garden Club, member of the Avon Park Historical Society, member of the World Wildlife Federation, avid animal lover and was a Teletype Operator in Germany during World War II. Mrs. Padelford is survived by her daughters-Robin Eiseman (Ron) of Parkland, Florida, Betty Bartlett (Ron) of Odessa, Florida and Penney Norton (Robin) of Avon Park, Florida; sons-Allen Padelford of Avon Park, Florida and Robert Padelford (Lane) of Sebring, Florida; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with graveside services following at 3:30 P.M. in Bougainvillea Cemetery with Rev. Robert Thorn officiating.
