Shirley Elizabeth Whalley

Shirley Elizabeth Whalley, age 88, passed away on September 2, 2014 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on February 25, 1926 in Ware, Massachusetts. She grew up and lived in Lake Placid, New York until retiring permanently to Florida in 2004 with her husband Garth. She was a Home Economics teacher and had many fond memories of her students over the course of her teaching career. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sebring. She enjoyed Church, music and being a seamstress and quilter. Shirley is survived by her daughters: Florie Ashley (Stephen)-Sebring, FL; Penny Kolba (Joseph)-Seminole, FL; Lisa Smith (Tom)-Jay, NY, half-brother: Richard Williams-GA, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Garth A. Whalley, her mother: Irene Hodskins Williams, her step-father: LeGrand Williams, her daughter: April Jean Whalley and her son: William Whalley. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 1:00pm, at First United Methodist Church of Sebring with Reverend David Juliano officiating.
