Shirley Stivender Murray

Shirley Stivender Murray, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on June 8, 1935 in Carlton, Georgia to the late Ralph and Lucy Mae (Tiller) Porterfield. Shirley had been a resident of Sebring since 1959 coming from Homer, Louisiana. She worked as a commercial loan officer with Barnett Bank for 27 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sebring. Survivors include her two daughters: Pat (Mike) Averyt-Sebring, FL, Pam (Steve) Farr-Avon Park, FL; and four grandchildren:, , Jack, Kathy, Zack, and Hannah and one great-grandchild: Charles, step-daughters: Laurie Murray-Loewen and Morgan Robinson, step-granddaughter: Lydia and step-grandson: Alex. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband: Elton "Speedy" Stivender and 2nd husband: Malcolm Murray. There will be a funeral service on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring with W. Mike Adams officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am and the service will start 11:00am. Burial will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
