Shirley Maxine Dillard

Shirley “Maxine” Payne Dillard, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home with family and friends surrounding her on Thursday, December 3, 2020.   She died from the effects of dementia related complications.  Maxine was born October 18, 1936 to Clyde and Lillian Rector Payne in Lexington, North Carolina.  She graduated from Lexington Senior High School in June 1955 and then attended Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC.  Maxing met and then married James Robert “Bob” Dillard June 5, 1965.  She worked at Mallory Batter (now Duracell) until she joined Bob in the Heating and Air Conditioning business.  Together, they founded Dillard Heating and Air Conditioning and continued to operate it until they retired in 1998 and moved to Florida.  Maxine is survived by her husband, Bob of 55 plus years of marriage.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2:00pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with family receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm.  Burial will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Lexington, NC.
