Shirlene Peterson, born in Indiana, to the late Garnet and Evelyn Rouse, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, in Sebring, FL at the age of 80.
Shirlene dedicated much of her life to working as a semi-truck driver, a profession she loved as it allowed her to travel across the country and explore different states. She moved to Sebring, FL from Koontz Lake, IN, and quickly became a member of the community.
Shirlene is survived by her children, Jeffrey G. Pugh of Sebring, FL, Sheila J. Pugh of Avon Park, FL, and Roberta Creech (Todd) of Sebring, FL. She also leaves behind her brother, Donald Porter (Ruthie) of Carlsbad, NM, six grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A member of both the Moose Lodge and the American Legion, Shirlene found joy in bowling, bird watching, and feeding the local birds. She had a deep love for her cats and always made time to care for them. Yellow roses, her favorite flower, were a symbol of her cheerful personality.
Shirlene was known for her adventurous spirit, nurturing nature, and generous heart. She was always ready to help those in need and was a constant source of support for her family and friends. Her fun-loving and kind demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Shirlene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who were a part of her life.
