Sherrod E Miller

October 16, 1922 — February 20, 2014

Sherrod Edwin Miller (S.E.) 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 20, 2014, Sherrod was born in Bartow, Florida to Elbert and Flora Keese Miller on October 16, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of forty years and mother of his three children, Earline Miller,2 sisters; Merle Godwin and Beatrice Hall both of Bartow; a brother: Raymond Miller of Tallahassee. Sherrod was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran serving for three years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park. He came to Sebring in 1947, to work for Gapway Groves to manage orange groves and worked for forty-four years before retiring. He loved to hunt, garden and visit with his friends. He also loved to cook for family get-to-gathers. His fried turkey was always a big hit with everyone. He married Virginia Boughner in 1990, and decided to retire. He spent his time raising a garden and working in his shop. He was happy with life and what he was doing. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years; 3 children: Edna (James) Reynolds-Avon Park, FL; Martha Miller-Sebring, FL and Edwin (Lainie) Miller-Calera, AL; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Joe) Willis, Christopher (Crystal) Reynolds, Julie Reynolds, Amy (Shannon) Breedlove, Michelle Miller, Ethan Miller, Jeremy and Jason Koons; eight great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Margie Osborn of Bartow, FL; Betty Ann Graham of West Palm Beach, FL and Sue (Don) Wiggins of Reno, NV; two sisters-in-law-Mary (Omir) Ellis of TX; Lorene (Nyle) Parmelee of AR; two brothers-in-law: Olan (Nelda) Hughes; Leon Hughes both of LA and several nieces and nephews, friends and his church family and he will be sadly missed. There will be a celebration of life ceremony at First Baptist Church of Avon Park on March 1, 2014, at 4:00pm. Family will receive friends beginning at 3:00pm.
