Serapio Velez-Morales, born on October 25, 1931, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2024, in Avon Park, FL. He was the cherished son of Alejo Velez and Aracelia Morales. He moved from Puerto Rico to Avon Park, FL in 2002.
Serapio was preceded in death by his loving wife, Adela Perez-Velez, his parents, as well as his brothers Salvador, Jose, Pablo, and Andres, and sisters Merquiades Ester and Luisa. However, his legacy of love and resilience lives on through his children: Junior Cordero of Avon Park, Hilda Velez of Avon Park, Maribel Polanco of Grayson, GA, Nilsa Velez of Erie, PA, Ruth Velez of Avon Park, and Jose Velez of Avon Park. He is also survived by his brother Artemio Velez, twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Serapio's family was his pride and joy, and his love for them knew no bounds.
Throughout his life, Serapio dedicated himself to the agriculture industry. He was passionate about cultivating plants, especially bean plants. He also took delight in owning and managing a coffee farm, reflecting his deep connection to nature and the land. The chickens he raised brought him happiness.
Serapio was a proud member of Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal in Avon Park. He found joy in fishing, playing dominos, and watching boxing matches. He enthusiastically watched cockfights in Puerto Rico. His presence in the community was marked by his generosity, hard work, and genuine love for others.
His spirit lives on eternally in our hearts. Rest in peace, Serapio Velez-Morales, your spirit will forever be a guiding light in your family's lives.
