Samuel H. Wert

Samuel H. Wert, age 83, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Avon Park, FL. He was born on February 6, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA to the late John Jacob and Elizabeth Mae (Hummer) Wert. Samuel served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, was a plumber, and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post #69 for over 20 years. He loved riding motorcycles, being outdoors, fishing, and most of all he loved his family time. Samuel never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife: Betty Wert of Avon Park; daughter: Teresa Lynn (Bernabe) Gonzalez of Avon Park; brother: Paul Benjamin Wert of Jonestown, PA; and grandchildren: Benjamin (Kayla) Gonzalez, and Nathaniel Gonzalez. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Avon Park. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on March 11, 2016 at the National Cemetery in Bushnell.
