Samuel Collins, Jr.

Our tiny precious gift of life from God was born Samuel Collins, Jr. on October 18, 1973 in Avon Park, Florida to Samuel Collins Sr. and Catherine Collins. His early education was Avon Park Elementary and Avon Park Middle School. He was affectionately known as “Toby”. He was one of the 1984 Avon Park Little League Champions, coached by his father.

He moved with his parents to Crystal River, Florida where he finished middle and high school. During those years he played basketball, football, and was part of the Key, Drama, and JROTC clubs. He graduated with his class at Crystal River High in 1992.

He then went to Oakwood College now Oakwood University for 2 years. He continued another 2 years at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. There he became the 1 ^st African American Student Body President.

He was taught to love and respect God at an early age. He was baptized at Ridges SDA Church in 1988. Samuel was a kind, loving, respectful son with a contagious smile He is survived by his parents, Samuel and Catherine Collins of Sebring, FL, sister, Felicia (Chanel) Charles of Avon Park, 2 nieces; Jahlisha Charles and Jahmeliyah Charles, 1 nephew Christopher Charles. Loving Aunts; Clenzie Crumbs, Annie Worrell, Sandra Cole, and Jacquelyn Lockhart, Uncle Bill Moreland. Godmother, Jackie Caldwell. A host of great Aunts & Uncles, Cousins, other relatives and friends.
