Samuel Joseph Amata, age 77, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 in Riverview, Florida.
He was born June 7, 1942 in Cleveland, OH to the late Peter Louis and Nellie Elizabeth (Mayo) Amata. He has been a resident of Highlands County for 1-1/2 years coming from Sun City Center, FL. Sam was of the Catholic faith and served his country in the U.S. Army 101 st Airborne during Vietnam.
Samuel was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Amata of Avon Park, FL;
Children, Michelle Amata; Samuel “Pete” Amata (Chris); Kathi Walther; Michael Amata (Amy); James Valtman (Debbie); Bill Valtman (Roni); Sonya Apple (Matt);
Sister, Marie Mayerhofer (Jerry); sisters-in-law, Wonda Dangler; Sheila Becar;
Grandchildren, Taryn, Daniel, Nicholas, Nathan, Alex, Anthony, Kayla, Amanda, Jay, Evan, Kyle, and Blake;
great-granddaughter, Alyvia;
nieces and nephews, Janet, Julie, Jeannie, Veronica, Crystal, Steve, and Tony.
Family will be receiving friends November 21, 2019 beginning at 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center.
