Salvador Otero

Salvador Otero, a devoted groundskeeper at Fairfield University and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Sebring. Born on March 7, 1940, in Ciales, Puerto Rico, Salvador’s life was marked by a profound love for his family and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

Throughout his career, Salvador dedicated himself to his role as a groundskeeper, contributing his care and attention to creating beautiful and welcoming environments for many years. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for his hobbies—he found great joy in dancing, caring for his yard, and listening to music. These interests brought happiness not only to himself but also to those around him.

Salvador was fond of the uplifting saying, "Don't worry, be happy," a motto he lived by and shared generously with those he loved. His positive outlook on life was a source of comfort and inspiration to his family and friends.

His heart was always fullest when surrounded by family. He cherished his time with his son Michael Otero and wife Mary Otero, his son Carlos Otero, and his daughter Flor Otero. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren, each of whom carried forward his legacy of love and joy.

Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Otero and Flor Maria Otero, whose memory he honored throughout his life.

As we remember Salvador Otero, we celebrate a life rich with love, dedication, and happiness. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate to know him.
