Sally (Sara) McCarthy died May 18, 2015 after a lifelong bout with many illnesses all her adult life. Born in Ionia, Michigan on October 14, 1933 to Leonard (Lefty) and Esther Miller, she attended grade and high school at SS Peter & Paul Academy in Ionia, graduating in 1951. Sara married her high school sweetheart, Frank McCarthy, on June 7, 1952. She worked at Lear, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI until the birth of their first child in Oct. 1953. Sara's main joy in life was raising two children and being a homemaker. They resided in Wyoming, MI for 25 years, in the White Lake, Whitehall, MI area for 25 years and 2 years in Key Largo, FL after wintering in the FL Keys for 30 years and moved to Sebring in 2002. She enjoyed traveling to 47 states, Canada, Mexico and many Caribbean Islands and when at home she was the instigator of many gatherings and outings cherishing the time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Sara is survived by her husband Frank, daughter Mary (Rick) Ramsey of Winter Haven, FL, son John McCarthy of Pompano Beach, FL, two grandchildren, Molly and Nicholas McCarthy of MI and many nieces and nephews who were also dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Fred and Jim Miller and a sister, Marilyn Miller. There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 22, 2015, 10:00am, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring with Bob Ushka officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 9:00am.
