Russell “Don” Yost of Sebring, FL. & Morgantown, WV. passed away quietly in his sleep on January 27, 2020 at his home in Sebring, with his youngest son James “Jim” by his side. The oldest son of the late M. Hess & L. Blendine Yost. He was born at the “Old Home Place” of his grandma Williams’ on March 31, 1930 in Daybrook, WV, he was 89. He was a founding member of the University Church of Christ, former member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, and member of the Sebring Parkway Church of Christ.

At the age of 18 he joined the Plumbers & Pipefitter Local Union 152 & was a member for 72 years. He worked and/or oversaw various construction projects for power plants and commercial/government buildings in the north central WV and southwestern PA region. After getting married, he worked for Gordon Oil Co. & Haliburton in Michigan and Ohio in the 1950’s. He was also active with the Masons. In 1974 he began building his hunting cabin in Tucker County, WV & constructed most of it without the use of electric. He was blessed with many days to enjoy hunting and just being in the country. He also enjoyed antiques, playing the guitar, and many faithful canine companions over the years. Early in their marriage, he and Loretta Jo moved to Michigan and Ohio seeking work. They always found their way home to West Virginia and eventually settled in the “cheat lake” area in 1960. They celebrated over 66 wonderful years together. They spent 23 of those years being Florida snow-birds until her death on December 24, 2016.

Russell is survived by two sons, Timothy C. Yost of Pittsburgh, PA and James K. Yost of Morgantown, WV. his only grandchild, Madison Grace Yost of Pittsburgh, PA. two brothers, Jack L. Yost of Morgantown, WV & Winterhaven, FL. and M. Leon (Linda) Yost of Texas. one brother-in-law Darrell Eddy of Bridgeport, WV. among many nephews, nieces, cousins, & special family friend Carol Berry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard Hess and L. Blendine, his wife, Loretta Jo, his middle son, Russell “Doug” Yost of Houston, TX, mother and father-in-law Charles W. Moore, Grace Headly, Moore Branham, and Herbert C. “Doc” Branham, step-mother Martha Tennant Yost, three sisters-in-law, Almeada Moore Eddy, Gail Cress Yost, and Cindy Empolus Branham.

Services will be held Sunday February 2, 2020. from 3pm-5pm viewing with funeral service immediately following at the Sebring Parkway Church of Christ with Kevin Patterson officiating. Russell will be transported to Morgantown, WV for further services later in the week. Final interment will be in Daybrook, WV at the Williams Cemetery alongside many generations of his family.
