Russell Lowell Lehman passed away February 26th, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born in Richmond, Indiana to Ralph and Bertha Lehman. Russ declined an athletic scholarship to Ball State University to serve in the U.S. Air Force after high school graduation.

After his service, he worked at CIT Insurance, owned a Shell service station with his cousin, Claude Soper, then moved to Florida where he entered the construction trade. He began working at Bert Whitler Metals installing screen rooms. After that, he built custom homes with Gene Scheck and Marvin Wood.

After many successful years of building custom homes, he went to work for the Highlands County Building Department as the County Building Official, retiring in 1999.

Russ was preceded in death by his daughter, Lizbeth Ann Lehman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lehman, daughters Lindy and Tracy Lehman, and sister, Judy Rains. He is also survived by grandchildren, Casey and Drew Jones, Taylor Douberley, and Remington Savage and great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Jaidee Douberley, Matthew Jones, Hannah and Gracelynn Jones.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Highlands County Humane Society.
