Ruby A. Armstrong

RUBY A. ARMSTRONG Ruby A. Armstrong, 80, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Sebring, FL. She was born July 11, 1929, to Ben C. and Mae (Quinn) Akers in Apison, Tennessee, and had been a resident of Avon Park since 1997, coming from Chattanooga, TN. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Avon Park. The beloved wife of Gordon C. Armstrong for 57 years, she was the loving mother of five children. She is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughter, Melinda Armstrong, Avon Park; son-in-law, Don McManus, Sebring; brothers, C.L. Akers, Ringgold, GA and Bill Stafford, Ooltewah, TN; sister, Helen Hill, Ooltewah and two grandsons, Cole and Cale Franklin. She was preceded in death by sons, Anthony L. Armstrong and Timothy L. Armstrong and daughters, Johnnie C. McManus and Sarah M. Armstrong. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring. Graveside services and interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Pastor Avin Miller officiating.
