Roy Dewayne Lemler

Roy Dewayne Lemler, age 66, of Avon Park, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning, March 25, 2012. He was born November 29, 1945 in Plymouth, Indiana to Roy and Lucille (Price) Lemler. He was a graduate of Avon Park High School and the University of South Florida where he earned Bachelors and Masters degrees. Mr. Lemler was an Educator for 40 years serving as Math Teacher, Football and Baseball Coach, FCA Sponsor, Assistant Principal, and Principal at Avon Park High School, Assistant Principal at Avon Park Middle School, Principal at Sebring High School, Math Teacher at South Florida Community College Career Academy, and Math Teacher at the Ridge Career Center in Polk County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park for 45 years, serving as a Deacon, Director of Sunday School, a Sunday School Teacher, and on the Faith Team. He served on the Florida Baptist Missions Board and on the core team that started Sunridge Baptist Church in Sebring, FL, Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church and the church services held at Lake Glenada. Mr. Lemler served on the City of Avon Park Planning and Zoning Board and was also a lifelong resident of Avon Park, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Diane Lemler of Avon Park, FL; Sons Dustin Lemler of Franklin, TN; Darren Lemler and wife Erin of Largo, FL; and Doug Lemler and wife Staci of Avon Park, FL; Brother Dean Lemler and wife Jean of Avon Park, FL; Sister-in-law Pat Landress of Avon Park, FL; Brother-in-law Craig Landress of Avon Park, FL; 7 Grandchildren Ian, Morgan, Jillian, Kiersten, Joslyn, Joshua, and Alaina; and his devoted Cocker Spaniel, Skipper, who accompanied him on his daily prayer walks. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 4:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Avon Park with Rev. Jon Beck, Rev. George Hall, and Dr. Howard Leman officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 11:00 AM 1:00 PM and from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM at the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.
