Ronald “Ron” Jay Stevens, 76, passed away on November 21, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. Born on December 7, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of the late Carl and Audrey Stevens.
A devoted Christian, Ron’s faith shaped every aspect of his life. He was an active member of First Sebring Church in Sebring, FL, where he sang in the choir. Prior to his move to Florida in 2021, Ron was deeply involved in the First Baptist Church in Richmond, IN, also as a choir member and as a deacon. His spiritual commitment left an indelible mark on both congregations.
Professionally, Ron dedicated himself to serving others. He worked as a paramedic, providing compassionate care during times of crisis, and served two terms as the Coroner of Wayne County, Indiana. He was known for his strong work ethic and professionalism.
Ron’s personal life was equally full. He was married to the love of his life, Karen Letitia Stevens, for 57 wonderful years. Together, they created a close-knit family, cherishing time spent traveling and camping across the United States. Ron’s adventurous spirit and love for life were infectious. He was an avid race fan who never missed an Indianapolis 500, and his fun-loving nature brought joy to all who knew him.
He was larger than life, a man of boundless generosity, humor, and dedication. Whether teasing his grandchildren or lending a hand to someone in need, Ron's warmth and sincerity touched countless lives. He will be remembered as a supportive husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and loyal friend.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Stevens; his children, Suzanne Albes of Tampa, FL, Michael Stevens (Celese) of San Antonio, TX, and Craig Stevens (Julie) of Avon, IN; his brother, Tom Stevens (Carole) of Fortville, IN; and six cherished grandchildren.
