Roger Preston Owens

Roger Preston Owens, age 80, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Avon Park, FL. He was born on March 17, 1935 in Avon Park, FL to the late Orrin and Dora (Parten) Owens. Roger was a lifelong resident of Avon Park. He was a member of Poinciana Masonic Lodge, enjoyed working with his cows, and loved to fish. He worked at the Avon Park Correctional Institution for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. Roger is survived by his wife, Juliella Owens; sons, Gregory Owens and Christopher Owens; step-children: Laura Lolli, Kevin Andrews, and Thomas Andrews; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park.
