Roger E. Gillings

Roger E. Gillings, age 77, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home in Avon Park, Florida on December 23, 2022 with his Wife of 56 years at his side. Roger was born on May 25, 1945 to Ellis “Joe” and Marian (Bayne) Gillings in Medina, New York. He was their only child.

Roger married Carol Hughes on August 26, 1966. He worked at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors for 34 years. He was very proud to be Tool Room Group Leader, as his Father had been.

Roger coached Newfane Recreation and AnJo Baseball and had many winning teams. He was a leader for the Junior Fireman, First Aid Captain and Fire Chief at Miller Hose Fire Company, in Newfane, New York where he started several new programs. Roger enjoyed his hunting camp with family and friends. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and loved old cowboy Westerns.

Roger is survived by his Wife – Carol Gillings; Children – Edward (Jennifer), Marycarol Snyder (Robert), Sara Thibault (Vic), Andrew (Charlene Marshall), and Adam (Amanda Vincek); Grandchildren – Levi and Jon Gillings, Megan Snyder (Tyler Strassburg), Cierra Wiepert (Bailey), Ella and Emilia Thibault, and Aidan and Alanna Gillings.

A private service for immediate family will be held in the Summer. If desired, donation made to the Miller Hose Fire Company (P.O. Box 99, Newfane, NY 14108) would be greatly appreciated.
