Robert Bob Henderson, age 81 passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home in Avon Park. He was born in Wauchula to Uel and Beulah Henderson. Bob was employed by and retired from Florida Power where he worked as a meter reader for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park where he served as Deacon, Chairman of the Ushers, and Secretary of the childrens nursery for more than 50 years. He was a guardian/caregiver to many elderly patients in nursing homes and spent many countless hours putting others needs ahead of his own. He was the manager of Bougainvillea Cemetery and served as President of the Avon Park Cemetery Association. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife-Virginia Henderson of Avon Park; daughter-Gini Beth Henderson of Avon Park; son-Sam Henderson (Theresa) of Avon Park; brothers-Maurice Henderson (Betty) of Wauchula and Russell Henderson (Janice) of Moore Haven; sister-in-law-Margaret Henderson of Wauchula; 2 grandchildren-Seth and Rob Henderson; great-grandson-Kayden Henderson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-Evelyn Landress and brothers-Harold Henderson and Mitchell Henderson. Visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Avon Park with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mike Adams, Dr. Howard Leman and Rev. George Hall will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bougainvillea Cemetery. Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Avon Park
