It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Kelly Phillips on December 10, 2024, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 82. Born on July 6, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina, Robert was the beloved son of the late Joseph Phillips and Mary Perrow.
Robert dedicated his early years to serving his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966, exemplifying the values of courage, honor, and commitment. In 2019, Robert made Sebring, Florida his home after many years in Olympia, Washington. A man of many passions, Robert found joy on the open water, spending countless hours on his sailboat. He also nurtured a love for gardening, finding peace and satisfaction in tending to the earth. Above all, he cherished his relationships, often spending time on the phone catching up with loved ones and sharing his warm and humorous spirit.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Chalairat Phillips, and his children, Patricia Miller of Tenino, Washington, and Donna Jean. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Mike Perrow, Frank Phillips, Bill Perrow, and Margaret Harris, as well as his four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Robert will be remembered for his adventurous soul, social nature, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by calm seas and endless horizons.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert’s life during a visitation on December 16, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Sarasota National Cemetery, where his service and legacy will be honored.
