On Wednesday, October 25, 2023 our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed peacefully into the arms of his loving parents and three siblings. Robert George Jump was born August 28, 1941 in Elmira, New York to Edith Amy Harder and Robert Samuel Jump. He loved the Savior and shared that love with his family. He loved his family very much and they loved him. Bob and Judi also loved the companionship of their dogs, Yogi and Lucy.
Dad loved being outdoors and being surrounded by nature. When his children were young, he took them camping in their Airstream trailer. They spent lots of time walking and biking in many beautiful places. He and Judi also had many great adventures in their motorhome.
He belonged to the Methodist Church and enjoyed the old hymns and the bells of the Methodist Community. He and Judi loved playing in the bell choir. He also sang tenor in church choirs for many years. He was an avid reader and eternal learner. He knew a lot of facts and was knowledgeable about many topics. We will miss having him as our go to guy and as our encyclopedia.
Education was very important to him. He was the first one in his family to graduate from college. He graduated with a BS degree in chemical engineering in 1964 from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He encouraged and supported his children to go to college, so they all received degrees. We are very thankful for his love of education!
He started his career at Corning Glass Works in Corning, NY (1964-1980). There he worked as a Chemical Engineering Manager, a Sales Manager, and a Product Manager. In 1980, he moved to Louisville, KY and worked for Cherry-Burrell (1980-1988) as the Director of Marketing and then as the Vice President of Engineering. In 1988, he moved his family to Wexford, PA and worked for Lancy International as a Marketing Manager. In 1990 he worked at Calgon Carbon Corporation as a Contract and Project Administrator. In 1994, he went to ProMinent Fluid Controls and worked as a Manufacturing and Engineering Manager. He had great success in his career and wore multiple hats using his knowledge of engineering, marketing, and advertising.
He loved classical music, the opera, and live theater. He could listen to any piece of classical music and tell you the name of it, along with the composer. This amazed his children! He took his children to the opera, the symphony, and many musical performances, and instilled a love of music in them. He and Judi enjoyed many theater performances at the Highlands Lakeside Theater in Sebring.
He loved to walk, run and bike. He ran several marathons and enjoyed walking, and biking with his family. Dad would often invite us to go on a walk or a bike ride. When he came to Sebring, he rode around Lake Jackson daily. His commitment to good physical health was an inspiration to his family. He was well known for his love of chocolate and his sweet tooth. There was nothing a bowl of ice cream couldn’t resolve!
He is survived by his loving wife, Judi Hart Jump; sons, Colin Jump (Jennifer) of NC; Robert Jump Jr. (deceased), Jim Buckley (Karen) of MN; Jody Buckley (Theresa) of FL; daughters, Jeri Lyn Jump-Caron (David) of UT; Julie Ann Jones (Brian) of FL; Jennifer Phillips (Lloyd) of FL; and sister-in-law, Linda Jump of FL.
Also surviving are many grandchildren including Ali Gardner (Jantz), Michelle Salazar (Benjamin), Megan Saldivar, Joshua Jones (Nacia), Jacob Jones, Jessica Jones, Heather Mauseth (Beau), Parker Jump, Ella Jump, Reagan Jump, Alexandria Micheel, Kristen Smith (Brandon), Courtney Bryant (Rast), Cody Buckley, Camille Buckley, Pierce Buckley, Davis Buckley (deceased), Melissa Facey, Devan Facey, Malina Facey, Brian Caron (Meredith), and Andrew Caron (Renée). We want to thank all the wonderful people at Moffitt Cancer Center, Compassionate Care Hospice, and Dr. Marvin Maxwell. They gave him great care and were wonderful in helping our family in every way they could.
