Robert Ramsom Goss Sr.

Robert Ransom Goss Sr, Age 79, late of Homer Glen, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5,2021 in Sebring, Florida. He was born in Gary, Indiana and raised in Merrillville, Indiana and lived in Homer Glen for 45 years.  He graduated from Merrillville High School, Indiana University and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the I. U. Baseball team.  In 1965 he married the love of his life, Sara Jane Rugenstein whom he met at I. U. in an elevator. Robert was an avid Chicago Cubbies and I. U. basketball and football fan. Bob worked for Johnson and Johnson, Baxter Travenol and 25 years at CVP Systems as Vice President of International Sales.  In his retirement he became a licensed charter boat captain, Snowgoose Charters, fulfilling his dreams.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, and fishing with his Admiral, children, grandchildren, and many friends.  He was also actively involved with Salmon Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited.  In his retirement years, Bob and Sara became “snowbirds” enjoying their Florida home. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles Robert  and Margaret (Nee: Ransom) Goss; and brother-in-law, Ron Flandermeyer. Survived by his wife, Sara (Nee:Rugenstein); a daughter, Kristen Bain of Sebring, Florida; one son, Robert (Rose) Goss, Jr. of Lockport, IL.; adored grandchildren, Derrick Hoffman, Jarrett Bain, Jacob Goss and Andrew Goss; his sister-in-law, Alma Flandermeyer; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials to Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd Church 7800 W. McCarthy Road, Palos Heights IL. or Faith Lutheran Church 2740 Lakeview Dr. Sebring FL., 33870 in Robert’s name would be greatly appreciated. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd Church, Palos Heights at 10:00am. Following Services Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery 2305 W. 73 ^rd Ave. Merrillville IN., 46410. Visitation in the O’Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9 ^th St., Lockport, IL., on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm.
