Robert D. Best, 86, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. He was born on January 10, 1938, in Knoxville, Maryland, to the late Ernest and Mary Best.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a career as a commercial electrician, where his dedication and hard-working spirit earned the respect of all who knew him. A man of many talents, he was an avid woodworker, a "do-it-yourselfer" whose skill and independence were evident in everything he created.
In 2000, Robert moved to Florida from his beloved Maryland to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine state. He was a proud member of the VFW and Moose Lodge, where he found camaraderie and friendship. A fun-loving man, he enjoyed trips to the casino, cheering for his favorite sports teams—especially the Green Bay Packers—and sharing his love of life with those around him.
Robert was more than his hobbies and accomplishments. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness.
Robert is survived by his children, Mark A. Best (Kristine) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Stephanie S. Best-Martin of Bealeton, Virginia; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his loving wife, Pauline, whose memory he carried with him always.
Robert will be remembered for his dedication, independence, and generous spirit. He was a talented handyman, a loyal friend, and a man who worked hard and loved deeply. His life was one of purpose, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
