Robert O. Barnes, “Bob” age 83, of Sebring, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Lake Placid, Florida. Born on November 17, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio and raised in Illinois by Stepfather Mike Demczyk and Mother Mary Demczyk. Robert led a life defined by hard work, devotion, and love for his family.
Robert was a dedicated truck driver who took pride in his work and exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his life. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted man of God. Since 1998, Robert called Lake Placid home, having moved from Vermilion, Ohio.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Barnes, who was the love of his life and his greatest partner. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Graaman, whose memory he cherished deeply and looked forward to their daily chats.
Above all, Robert will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his daughter, Tammie Szymborski, who dedicated the last 10 years to caring for him and his health. Robert was the cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren: Jennifer McHale, Brian Kokos, Robert Szymborski, Ashley Szymborski, Tyler Graaman, Cody Graaman, Courtney Szymborski, Noah Szymborski, and Joshua Graaman. His legacy continues through his six great-grandchildren that he cherished: Julia, Stephen Jr., Layla, Lyric, Lucia and Lana. Robert’s kind heart, laughter, and steadfast faith left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
In honor of Robert’s life, the family asks that you carry his legacy forward by cherishing your loved ones, offering kindness to others, and living a life of faith and gratitude.
